When I spotted this “work in progress” on Instagram, I totally gasped:
In fact, I think I may copy the color palette entirely: a dark blue paint on all four walls with the stencil done in a shimmery metallic glaze on one wall. I think the metallic glaze (instead of an opaque second color) really makes it over-the-top awesome. I know I’m running the risk of making the room feel closetlike, but I think the super-size mirror I finally committed to will really open up the space. (The stenciled wall would be opposite the mirror.)
Jackie said she was inspired by De Gournay wallpaper, and her decorator found the stencil on Etsy. Thankfully, I was able to track down the exact same stencil—just $38, SO much cheaper than fancy wallpaper—and I placed my order today. (Squee!)
I’m a little bit nervous to do the stencil myself, but I’ll be sure to show you the play-by-play. (If I pull it off!)
Would you try a stencil on your walls? Am I nuts for doing dark blue in a teeny bathroom?
